Christmas & Grateful kids

November 27, 2012, 4 Comments

I don’t know about you, but the world is literally screaming “Shopping!” come Christmas every year. Kids are going “Yeah… I’m going to get presents!” So much about the true meaning of Christmas. I have a confession. Actually one of the most coveted items I have on my list today is the Note II. With my Galaxy S,  I am already doing so much, I can only imagine how powerful Note II is. I could possibly make my life go so much faster with the convenience it brings. Instead, I think the hubs got me a laptop. He said it…

Q: What is playpen time? A: Playpen time is a designated time in a day that we let our baby play in his playpen for not more than 30mins each time. Put two or three interesting toy and change it every two to three days. Playpen time trains attentiveness, problem-solving and independent play. Start by training the baby with 3mins and gradually moving on to longer time to play. We should not abuse the playpen by leaving our baby unattended for unlimited amount of time. Q:When can we put the baby in playpen? A: As soon as the baby…

Why, why, why: Marrying Late, avoiding having babies

August 23, 2011, 0 Comments

WHY do Singaporeans get married later and hesitate about having a family? Singapore is recognised more and more as a model country by other nations. From the innovative urban development strategy to the adaptive estate master plan, from the panoptic transport management to the precocious education formation, Singapore has earned a reputation for effectiveness, diligence and determination. Sadly, we hear little of pro-family measures, elevating family values in the building of a nation and nurturing healthy relationships within families. There needs to be a paradigm shift, from the Government to corporations and even to heartlanders. – Higher real cost in…

We had a little mummy chats session where I shared from the following notes. I thought I will post it here along with the Q&As we discussed. Proverbs 4:1-2, Eph 6:1,4, Deut 32: 46-47 “Training” and “Instructions” are two significant ways that the Bible exhort both daddies and mommies in nurturing our kids. Questions to ask ourselves: What is our goal for our child? Does it align with what God wants for our child? 1) Goals of…

Training Active Babies

Praise the Lord for his creation. All babies are wonderfully and fearfully made. My younger son is a very alert, quick and agile baby. How time flies, he is now 11months old. At only 2 weeks old, he could lift his head up and turn from side to side. At 2 months old, he refuse to be nursed. At 11months old he refused to lie down and drink from the bottle. He prefers to use a straw to drink his milk! Praise the Lord for children so special in their own ways. Language I thought he was not as verbal…

Water into Milk

I spoke with several new mothers and they all seemed to breeze through breastfeeding. Part of the natural order of childbirth, God endowed all women with the ability to nurse, and it is a joy, to say the least. The nurses placed my baby on my breast just few minutes after he was born and he was suckling happily while I looked on in a daze, unsure of what to feel, for the very first time. Armed with knowledge from antenatal classes and a very competent lactation consultant, I still struggled for the first few days, Reason: A big baby!…

Motherhood and Money

May 28, 2007, 0 Comments

Motherhood and money are seldom best mates. Everything cost more than one expects. Yesterday the utility bills came in for the month of April-May, a whooping $200, a far cry from the usual $60 – gas, electricity and water combined. We made a wild guess before we got the bill, the figure was close yet we couldn’t have prepared ourselves for it. Diapers cost us an average $25 per week, it has been by far the most expensive items for the household, not counting the number of years my baby would need to be wearing one, break it down further…
