Prenatal treatment at Nouri : Scrub and Wrap

January 16, 2015, 0 Comments

I went back to Nouri’s to finish off my prenatal treatment. This time I was highly recommended to do a “Scrub & Wrap” combo.  I actually can’t wait because each time I finished at Nouri’s, I feel refreshed. But many women ask, “Is it really safe to do a body scrub during pregnancy since our skin is more sensitive during this period of time?”  Valerie of Nouri Face and Body Concepts tells me that it is important to select a highly trained therapist who could recommend products that are safe for use, as well as to ensure that expectant…

Hotel Oasia – 6 star service

January 11, 2015, 0 Comments

Who would have thought much about a local hotel. I was up to my neck with the non stop preparation for the family, the boys’ new homeschool arrangements, new interests, their medical check-ups, the logistics of welcoming a new baby in less than 4 weeks, the stress of rising cost, and bickering within the household etc. Before long, my tolerance level dropped to an all time low and I knew I had to get away to rest.  A staycation would be perfect. Just a quiet and neat place to unwind with minimum interruptions. No maid in sight to supervise, no…

Makeup so good even for preggers!

January 10, 2015, 0 Comments

Are you pregnant or simply just a modern woman looking for good, clean makeup? Well, I looked everywhere but found nothing as good as Jane Iredale Skin Care Mineral Makeup! Not every mineral makeup is created equal, so it is important to look at the ingredient list. Being heavily pregnant, I look every bit t.i.r.e.d. When people say that pregnant women glow, I actually feel otherwise. Especially in my first and third trimester, all I could think of is my bed! (You can’t see my eye bags and dark circles, which is precisely why I am sitting so far…

Junior Claus – A different kind of Christmas

December 12, 2014, 0 Comments

Have you ever ask yourself when is a good time to tell the children that Santa Claus is a make-believe character, and does not really live in the North Pole? Or will you ever? Some parents are dead set against fairy tales and magic while others let kids wonder into the land of pretend play without boundaries.  I don’t know about you, but I know that I am happy to let the children understand that this jolly good ol chap that appears regularly during Christmas is as jolly as the character in a book, a fictional book. At ages 6…

Prenatal Massage at Nouri – “Beautiful mum, Beautiful pregnancy!”

November 26, 2014, 0 Comments

I love scents, and naturally aromatherapy.  However, too many well-meaning advise about the use of essential oil on the internet only leaves one confused, and in the end, I ditched all use of essential oil, since I was pregnant.                     Then I met an aromatherapist and things changed! When Valerie, owner of Nouri Face and Body Concepts, and a highly qualified aromatherapist invited me to try her signature Prenatal Therapeutic Massage, I was only too happy to find out how essential oil, shunned by many pregnant women can still be enjoyed…

3M Polarising Task Light LED5000 – Getting kids ready for school

August 23, 2014, 0 Comments

Having kids going to primary school for the first time may mean excitement for many parents as their little bub is no longer a baby, they are transiting into another phase or milestone.  It is common for parents to prepare their children both emotionally and psychologically for life in school.  Yet, equally important is to teach them good eye habits as soon as we can.  In Singapore, it is known that school children have tons of homework. It is not uncommon to see more and more bespectacled children in their early years. My husband and I wear glasses and I…

Dyson Cool – Powerful and Quiet

August 19, 2014, 0 Comments

Our boys don’t sleep in air-conditioned rooms. We use the air-conditioner to cool the room and then switch it off after two hours. We believe it is better when we keep the windows open, fresh air is best. We’ve had several fans throughout the years. The traditional ones we had were the standing fans with blades that requires a wipe down once every week or so to keep it dust-free. We didn’t have to do it before kids, but when the boys came along, and with frequent use, it became quite a chore.  So we bought a tower fan, thinking…

Spirit of Excellence! – Cold Storage Kids Run 2014

May 20, 2014, 0 Comments

The results of competitive run is out today! So much can happen within one minute, and it separates the winner from those who didn’t win, or does it? This is our second time taking part in the run. In a family of two boys, it is no wonder that we do sports alot, intentional or not. They are always running, jumping, on their bikes, kicking a ball, swimming, climbing and swinging about in the playground, you name it! The boys enjoy sports so much it is easy to teach them good sportsmanship through these activities. “Run as you would usually…

Doctor for a Day @ Mt Elizabeth Novena

October 2, 2013, 0 Comments

Children love role-play. The boys often go about pretending to be firemen, police, doctors, paramedics and more. I noticed what stood out was their eagerness to engage in community helper roles. So I know that when the opportunity came for them to immerse themselves in different roles and find out more about a hospital, I knew this would be a meaningful way to extend their play. These junior “doctors” reported for work, don their scrubs and went through a protocol, all in the name of professionalism! First, a brief of their ‘work day” and then getting them to go through…

Is online shopping kind to our wallet? ( comparison chart inside )

August 22, 2013, 0 Comments

With so many online services these days, I find myself checking to see if someone else is providing better service at a lower cost or if the service level is friendlier. Our family has yet again decided that we will try living without a lived-in domestic helper. Firstly, my sons are asking, sometimes begging me to do housework. I too think it is about time they up their chore skills like dusting and cleaning the toilets. They are now experts at cleaning up their toys after play and lessons, so I don’t need to have someone else clean up after them….
